Anonymous asked: I am replying to Anonymous who wanted a suggestion for a slashy episode to watch. The slashiest one (IMO) in the whole series is "Operation Friendship," from season 9. B.J. is injured and Hawkeye worries over him like a mother hen or a husband, LOL... actually sitting and watching him sleep at one point. I also find "GFA" slashy at times, though it does make me angry every time B.J. excitedly heads for home while his best friend/partner is sitting in an institution. Gotta overlook that part. :-)
I’d also recommend ‘Operation Friendship’ - it’s an awesome episode in general and yes, it’s also quite slashful in that way! It’s never the wrong answer, let’s face it…
Anonymous asked: Major unrequited love issues over here. Any particular episodes of M*A*S*H you suggest I watch to numb the pain? Preferably something with a high slash content? And if you know of any good fics, or fic recs, please share.
Can anybody help? I can’t say I know many of the episodes by name, but as I’ve said before, series 9 and 10 are stuffed with some of the best slashy jokes in my opinion. I also haven’t yet delved into the world of M*A*S*H fic. Perhaps I should do, so I can form a rec list.
Actually, I know of one, but only because I wrote it (it’s short, bromantic, and a bit sad): http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7154968/1/Tears_of_A_Clown
Now that, Hawk, is an unusual way of dressing.
Y’know, TWICE in series 9/10 Hawkeye’s dressing gown is described as purple. It’s bloody red!
Also, I love B.J. in pink. LOVE it.
- Blood and Guts (episode 12 season 10)
I’d kind of forgotten about this episode, but re-watching it now, I love it. Among other things it really shows the differences between the suspicious and the credulous - the suspicious being Hawkeye and the credulous being… basically everyone else. Coming from parents who are each others’ complete opposites, I have both of these traits myself, although I’m far more suspicious than I am naïve. This episode shows us different personality traits and are at the same time letting us get to know the characters of the show better. While the credulous, more easy-going people had more fun, the suspicious was the one who actually had a feel of the truth and ended up being “right”. The other realizes this but not until his trust in the wrong person made him lose something - as BJ lost his motorcycle. Psychology nerd as I am, I find it interesting to see these different types of personalities act and interact within the same situation, and M*A*S*H provides that better and more realistically than any other show.
This.
Anonymous asked: As much as I hate the way Trapper left, I really do, I can't help noticing how similar it was to the way BJ left in Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen. Now, we all know the feeling is different, but it is rather bothersome to think of it that way, isn't it?
It’s true that the way B.J. was GOING to leave in the final episode (when he got his mixed-up orders) was similar, but he also spent that portion of the episode frantically trying to think of a way to leave Hawk a decent goodbye. The only reason he didn’t was because he couldn’t think of anything adequate, because he loved Hawkeye so much. So obviously when the orders were rescinded and B.J. came back, Hawkeye was understandably pissed off, Trapper’s leaving was brought up, and he spent the episode trying to force B.J. to say goodbye properly.
However, the way B.J. eventually DID say goodbye - with the stones that Hawk only saw once he was in the air - was beautiful and touching. B.J. couldn’t say it, but Hawk needed to hear it, so he made the gesture in a slightly different way. Trapper didn’t say goodbye in ANY way - I mean, what, he got Radar to give Hawkeye a kiss? It was vastly insufficient and pretty damn cold. I don’t think their friendship meant as much to Trap as it did to Hawk.
In conclusion, I don’t really understand your original question or where it came from, but… yeah. There’s my two pence.
Anonymous asked: My best friend and I are aware that we are basically Hawkeye and BJ. The fact that we both slash the stuffing out of them would make it awkward, but we're basically Hawkeye and BJ, so really, we don't care.
You both sound truly awesome.
somnium-dea asked: I was just talking to my MIL the other day about how I think Hawkeye and BJ had a much better dynamic than Hawk and Trapper. Really glad to find a blog that agrees with me. Cheers!
Absolutely! Hawkeye and BJ’s relationship seems enormously evolved, meaningful, and tightly-bonded in comparison to the former’s friendship with Trapper. They’re an incredible partnership.
girlwithslingshot answered your question: Is it just me or are Hawk and Beej’s comments to each other in series 9 and 10 especially slashy?
Not just you. Definitely not just you. Also, love the Owen Harper gif.
Always happy to have fellow slashers and Torchwood fans on my M*A*S*H group.
